How do I prepare for my junk removal or demo appointment?

Accepted Answer

1. Identify What You Want Gone

Walk through your space and decide exactly what needs to be removed.
If possible, group items together or point them out when we arrive.
Unsure about something? Leave it — we’ll confirm on‑site.
We recommend using a tag, painters tape, or marker to identify items you want removed.

2. Clear a Path

Make sure we can safely access the items.
Move cars from the driveway.
Unlock gates, sheds, or basement doors.
For indoor jobs, clear hallways or stairways if you can.

3. Separate “Keep” vs. “Remove” Items

Mark or move anything you want to keep so it doesn’t get hauled by accident.
A sticky note, tape, or a simple “don’t take this” works great.

4. For Demo Jobs: Prep the Area

Remove personal items from the room.
Take down wall décor, pictures, or shelves you want to keep. (we're happy to assist)
Clear countertops, cabinets, or vanities if they’re being demoed.
If we’re removing flooring, move small items off the floor.

5. Disconnect Appliances (If Applicable)

Unplug appliances.
Turn off water lines to washers, fridges, or dishwashers if they’re being removed.

6. Secure Pets

Keep pets in another room or area so they stay safe while we work! We don't want Rufus or the Kitties to escape!

7. Know Where We’re Parking

Let us know the best place to park the truck/trailer.
If you live in a tight driveway or shared lot, a heads‑up helps.

8. No Need to Bag or Box Everything

We handle sorting, bagging, and loading.
If you want to bag small items, that’s fine — but not required.

9. Be Present (or Give Us Access)

Someone 18+ should be on‑site unless we’ve arranged a remote pickup.
For curbside or driveway pickups, you don’t need to be home.

10. Relax — We Handle the Heavy Stuff

You don’t need to lift a thing.
Just point, and we haul.

Is there any hazardous waste you cannot remove?

There are certain items we legally can’t haul because they’re classified as hazardous materials. These require special disposal through your county’s hazardous waste program.

Here’s what we cannot take:

Wet paint (liquid paint of any kind)
Chemicals (household, industrial, or unknown)
Solvents & thinners
Gasoline, diesel, kerosene, or fuel containers with liquid inside
Motor oil or used oil
Antifreeze
Pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers
Pool chemicals
Propane tanks (full or partially full)
Fire extinguishers (pressurized)
Ammunition or explosives

We can help you in identifying materials and/or consult with you on best ways to dispose of these.
